Exam el lunes...

What do you do when you have a history exam in a foreign language?

So I am in this dilemma, not only do I need 15min/page to exaclty understand what is going on, but also will have to somehow memorize this as well for the exam.

I'm usually someone who cares about exams and considers them a great opportunity to express oneself in manyways. But I'm really afraid now, I might even consider writing in Arabic, after all, this "Introduction to the history of Al-Andalus" is from the Arabic Department.

I just want to pass....just pass....

The last day of May

So I´m here, down in the Lab. Doing my Siesta time writing this post..

Today I finally discovered the good cheap places to buy a nice outfit in Granada, Springfield . something and bear , zara. It was cool to find the Jordanian flag on the stuff with the pricing and different nomara´s , So good shoes cost 19.95 euros, and some reduced price t-shirts cost 10 , and a nice cool Jeans short around 25 , Hmm..Maybe I´ll put aside a 100 for this.

Summer isn´t here yet, and I guess everybody is quiet dissatisfied about it , its cloudy and will probably rain by night, so hopefully this doesn´t go on in June. I hae some beach plans and they shouldn´t be ruined under any circumstances!!

My exam on Sunday (Introduction to the history of andalus) will consume much of the week end, but then the renewable energy project is also taking much time, and I guess I know what is my priority, but I´m the kind of person who wants to do it all, and win everything.

Also today I got my spanish certificate, 8.5/10 , nice nice...Made a collection of ¨Jordanian-Arabic music to dedicate to my professor, and I find it such an extremely hard job, I generally don´t like the theme of Jordanian songs, and the majority of arabic ones, but I guess the music of Omar al abdallat is a nice one, representative somehow...don´t you agree?

Yesterday we had a cool game with the other italians and only spanish (Angel) in Andrea´s flat! I realized I need to do alot in regards to spanish , It was like the pictionary game, you have questions, TMs , drawing, Miming, Taboo (min ´3eir kalam) . was pretty exciting, I just love those games :)) eternal source of happiness...

Angel is a spanish guy who rocks! I mean , such a funny personality and feels absoloutely free to say whatever, to make fun of whomever and have no problems with that, we had an interesting discussion the other day (Me, him , Maria ) about basically realtions in Europe (yes, I mean sex) and in Jordan. I always thought I had the right to be surprised about how people act openly in regards to this, but then they both bombarded me with questions about how guys get along if the majority don´t have sexual relationships before marriage...I tried to defend the point of view I know about, but then thought its a case I don´t want to bother myself with. At the end of the day everyone does as he/she pleases and that´s it.

I´m pretty hungry now, and the thing in Granada is that for students they have the (COMODORES) which is a rest. basically for students, the cheapest here, 3 euros for a meal with a desert. I don´t know, I still think its pretty expensive compared to the Max. 1 JOD meal in Tecno, but I have to admit, I like it more here.

لا أريد العودة ثمانمئة عام إلى الوراء للحديث عن تاريخ الأنلدس، فأنا معلوماتي ضحلة عن الموضوع (برغم : مدخل إلى تاريخ الأنلس الاسلامية) الذي أحضره هنا في الجامعة

ولكن تبدأ حكايتي في سيارة مع ثلاثة أصدقاء، تقودنا الفيات من غرناطة إلى قرطبة ، ونمحو بطريقنا آلاف الخطوات المتصارعة شمالاً وجنوباً

الجو كان غائماً وبدأ تساقط خفيف للأمطار عند وصولنا إلى جامع-كاتدرائية قرطبة، كان هناك عدد هائل من السياح الاسبا ن كبار السن ، الكثير من الفستق والبزر وما إلى ذلك من التسالي، الكثير من الفلاشات والصور هنا وهناك ، لا حرس ولا حراس، هذا عصر آخر

كنا أربعة، من ايطاليا وبولندا وطبعاً الأردن ، وكان الوقت عصراً لما اشترينا التذاكر (8 يورو) ولا خصم للطلاب :( ولكن كان هذا آخر

همنا، لما دخلنا الجامع-الكاتدرائية وكأنما هو عالم آخر... تم

في ساعات المساء وبعد حولة في غرناطة قادتنا إلى الحي اليهودي وفيه معبد قديم من حجرة واحدة وكتابات عبرية على الجدران

قررنا الذهاب إلى مدينة الزهراء، الطقس تحسن قليلاً وحقيقة أننا كنا قد اصطففنا خارج أسوار المدينة القديمة بخطوات سهلت مهمة المجئ والإياب، على كل حال الطريق 8 كيلومترات ، حوالي 10 دقائق، وعند الوصول كانت قطعان من الثيران تجوب الحشائش بحثاً عن الكلأ، وبعض الطيور تزقزق هنا وهناك ، من كان ليتصور مدينة أهداها الخليفة لزوجته لتعوضها عن جنان دمشق في تؤول إلى خرابة، لكن في النهاية يقول القائمون على الموقع أن ما اكتشف من المدينة لا يتعدى 10% مما هي عليه أصلاً ... الزهراء فسحة تاريخية لا تنسى

Sacromente الجبل المقدس

ذهبنا في رحلة مع مجموعة من طلاب معهد اللغات الحديثة إلى الساكرومونته وهو عبارة عن أحد ضواحي غرناطة الواقعه على أحد التلال مقابل الحمراء ، البيوت هناك تقليدية وغير تقليدية ، غير التقليدي هي بيوت مبنية داخل كهوف ، وبعض المقاهي والمطاعم أيضاً ، المكان جميل وأشبه بضيعة أو قرية جبلية لا تبعد عن المركز 10 دقائق مشياً

يتحدث الساكرومونتيون هنا عن سانت سيسل ، وهو أحد القديسين الأوائل الذين بشروا بالمسيحية في غرناطة ، ولكنه تعرض للتعذيب الشديد من قبل الرومان الذين لم يكونوا قد اعتنقوا المسيحية بعد ، حيث تم احراقه كما آخرون من بعده

أهم ما يميز المكان هو سكانه من الغجر وأنها أحد مواطن الفلامنكو ، وأيضاً بعض الخرافات أو التقاليد الشعبية ، فمثلاً: توجد كنيسة على قمة جبل هو أبعد نقطة عن غرناطة وتحتها كهف كبير يحوي حجرات صغيرة عديدة - أشبه بما تحت الأهرامات في مصر - ، وفي احدى هذه الحجرات توجد صخرة سوداء كبيرة ، يأتيها الناس ليلمسونها ، لأنها توفقهم بالارتباط بحبيب خلال عام ، ضحكنا كثيراً عندما هب الجميع للمس الحجر السحري بالرغم من أن بعضهم مرتبط أصلاً! ... وعلى بعض خطوات يوجد حجر أبيض ذا مفعول عكسي ، فهو الوصفه الملائمه لمن يود الانفصال عن شريكه ، لم يلمس أحد هذا الحجر! ...تم

Creo que las tapas son la mejor cosa para los estudiantes y turistas, la idea es muy rica, y tenéis que saber que he ido una vez a un bar de tapas que se llama “EuriBar” o algo parecido, pero ahora no se donde esta! Las tapas allí son por 1 euro, ¡muy barato!

Hay que abrir un lugar de tapas en Amman-Jordania, ¡quizás habría un competencia entre las tiendas de tapas y los lugares de homos! , ¡Quien lo sabe!

What does 958 Kw mean?

As a mechanical engineering student, I was (and still) one who finds it hard sometimes (and all the time) to give significance to numbers, in a thermodynamics class for example I would moan about how its hard for us students to translate numbers into values, simply put, you always hear these questions: so what does it mean that it's power is 100 watt? what if its 1000 kw? what about a MEGA!...does it matter to us , students? and lovely readers?

Well, as a matter of fact, it doesn't , as long as it stays in that class.

However...

Today, I finally learnt the lesson, the hard way, we recieved the electricity bill, sebastian was trying to put it in nice words, but his face was telling of something bad, real real bad!

958 kW means...tararara...117 euro ! 130 dinar !

Goodbuy saving money dreams, goodbuy my lovely weekend at the beach and goodbuy a book I wanted to buy!

Well, 1000 Kw = 1 Mw , thats what we spent in 2 months, electricity only, now, correct me if I am wrong, isn't it not 30 Jds as an average in Jordan? the whole house?

Ehhh...Will update you about the water bill, the internet bill, the ....

I'm too old now to open books and study...

So today I decided to stay at home, no going out for me, I seriously need to get done with some material I barely understand, let alone attending the exam one week from now.

Why is studying such a torture? I mean, maybe because its sunny outside, and the fest. isn't over yet, maybe because I need to buy some stuff (I always have that need) , or maybe because its civil engineering material that I am studying , in spanish , after 4.5 years of mechanical engineering back home. Or maybe it is ...

I don't know!

We have an AIESEC meeting in an hour and I need to go see what the deal is about today, but I feel bad now, I need to get done with that material!

Dia de la cruz..يوم مقدس في اسبانيا

أمس ، 3 - أيار ، هو يوم احتفال ديني في الأندلس خصوصاً واسبانيا عموماً ، منذ ساعات الصباح الأولى كان المشهد جميلاً في الشوارع، الأمهات وأطفالهن بأثواب أندلسية تقليدية ، أما الرجال فيلبسون البدلات التقليدية أيضاً وطواق تقليدية ، كان الشارع الرئيسي مغلقاً أمام السيارات والساحات العامة كانت تضج بالموسيقى وحولها العوائل والزوار يتراقصون بطريقة تقليدية ، وقد فهمت السر بالرقصة ، فهي عبارة عن ثلاث خطوات : امسك التفاحة ، كل التفاحة ، ارم التفاحة ، تبدأيدك فوق عندما تمسك التفاحة ثم على مستوى فمك لما تأكل التفاحة ، ثم أسفل على مستوى الجنب عندما ترمي التفاحة ، طبعاً حاولت أتفلت من بعض الأطفال الذين أرادوا مني التبرع ، ولم أستطع منع نفسي من مناولتهم يورو بحاله بعد ما حكولي (انه يوم الصليب يا سيد) بأدب شديد وصرامة في مطلب التبرع..في المساء طلعنا أنا وروستوم وهاني وكارلوس و فنسنت بجولة تاباس (شرح التاباس في المرات القادمة!) ، واللي تبين انها جولة شرب وسهر طول الليل ، زرنا حوالي ستة محلات مختلفة ، ومن أهم المشروبات (المانثانيا) وهي مشروب كحولي مخفف بالسفن أب من التفاح ، و طبعاً البيرة العادية والتنتو ، انتهت الجولة في محل فوج ، ضلينا هناك حتى ساعات الصباح الأولى....تم

ولكن ما هو هذا اليوم ؟ (ديا دي لا كروث : أو يوم الصليب) هو اختفال هام في مدن الأنلس كغرناطة ،قرطبة ، اشبيلية و ملجه ، هو يوم ملون بأثوابه وديكوراته. يقوم فيه كل حي وتجمع بوضع صليب كبير مزركش حوله بالفواكه و الزهور والمراوح التقليدية وأدوات زراعية ، وجرار ماء وغيرها ، وتوجد مقصات رمزية مفتوحة لقطع أية منغصات لحودية، يضع الناس في هذا اليوم أثوابهم الغجرية التقليدية ويذهب الجميع للشرب والرقص في الشوارع. هذه الحفلة مدتها ثلاث أيام بأجواء بهيجة، وهذا الاحتفال هو ذا جذور قديمة متعلقة بالاحتفال بنهاية الشتاء وبدء موسم الصيف...تم

في غرناطة (مدينة عدد سكانها لا يتجاوز المليون ، ممكن زي عدد سكان اربد) يوجد محلات كبيرة (سوبر ماركت) بأعداد كبيرة ، الهايبر كور ، الكورتيس انجليس ، نبتونو ، وغيرها من المحلات الأصغر (زي حبوب) ، بس مش محل حبوب واحد أو اثنين! لأنه في كل ضاحية في محل وأكثر من اسم تجاري ، اللي ما قدرت أفهمه انو ليش المحلات الكبيرة أسعارها أرخص بكثير من الدكاكين ؟؟ يعني عكس ما عنا في الأردن.... تم
